Salary band: £38,000-£45,000
Bonus: 8% (performance-based, discretionary)
5 days per week onsite at our Islington-based office (some flexibility)

Our LINQ platform allows us to simplify everyday automation tasks, while supporting more advanced paths for specialised workflows, in a fast, flexible, and cost-efficient way.

We are looking for an IT Support Engineer to sit at the heart of our operations, ensuring that our business functions smoothly and efficiently. This role is crucial as we transition from outsourced IT support to an in-house solution, allowing us to better meet our business needs in a timely and secure manner.

Automata is a scale-up and our org reflects the stage of growth that we're in. This role will report to the Head of People for their day-to-day delivery, with oversight and input from our Lead Network Engineer (technical coaching), our Group Financial Controller (for budgetary alignment) and our Chief of Staff (for global operational alignment).


Provide seamless IT support, manage financial and budgetary controls, and build an environment of operational excellence around IT at Automata.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Annual Budgeting and Cost Management: Manage annual budgeting and departmental cost centres, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Employee Experience: Deliver high-quality, consistent IT onboarding and offboarding for new hires and leavers, ensuring all necessary equipment and access are managed.
  • Project Management: Oversee and manage IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Senior Management Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on IT support activities, highlighting key issues and resolutions.
  • Staff Support: Address day-to-day IT issues for staff, both internally and remotely, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Policy Management: Maintain and create departmental policies that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Event Support: Assist with technology setup and support at company events, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Asset Management and Maintenance: Ensure company asset stocks are responsibly ordered and monitored. Ensure meeting room hardware and other IT equipment are properly maintained and functional.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience: you will have succeeded in a similar role, preferably within a tech environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Google Workspace, Jumpcloud/MDM, Jira/Atlassian administration.
  • Networking: Strong networking knowledge, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Meeting Room Technology: Experience with meeting room technology setup and maintenance.
  • Cloud and Security: Familiarity with Azure and Microsoft, SSO tools, Carbon Black, and Windows Defender.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Customer Service: A proactive and customer-focused attitude, ensuring staff IT needs are met efficiently.
